Delete your account and data

You can ask us to delete a Thuru Kepakaru student or project owner account and the personal data linked to it. Accounts are created by schools and S-lon, so deletion is done by our team on request.

How to request deletion

Send an email to info@thurukepakaru.lk with the subject "Delete my Thuru Kepakaru account", or call 0770 500 500.
Include:
- the username of the account,
- the school or project name,
- the guardian mobile number registered for the student (if any),
- whether you want the whole account deleted or only some data (see below).
If the student is under 16, the request must come from their parent or guardian.
We confirm the request with you (we may call the registered guardian mobile number) and complete it within 30 days. We will let you know when it is done.

What is deleted

Account details: name, username, password, guardian mobile number and profile photo.
Tree care records made by the student: care notes, photos and the location saved with them.
Ratings, points, rewards and notifications for the account.

What is kept

The tree and its planting record (tree number, species, school project and planting date). Trees belong to the school project, so the tree stays in the project as "Unassigned", with no personal data attached.
Records we must keep by law, if any, for the period the law requires.

Deleted data is removed from our backups within 90 days after the deletion is completed.

Deleting some data without deleting the account

In the app, under Profile, you can change your profile photo and edit or remove the guardian mobile number at any time.
To delete other data, for example a care photo or note, email info@thurukepakaru.lk with your username and what you want removed. We handle these requests the same way, within 30 days.
